Documentary Presentation Nicaragua July/17
On July 6, Dina Carrion Foundation presented its documentary “Orphans of Femicide; the Neglected Victims of Gender Violence” at the Nicaraguan-North American Cultural Center in Managua, Nicaragua. The documentary presented the stories of three victims of femicide and the aftermath of the ten children left behind. This emotional presentation gathered the assistance of many contributors including: Adilia Amaya, board member of CODENI; Berta Valle, Public Figure; and Swenarski de Herrera, Counselor for Public Affairs of the United States Embassy. The foundation recognized a women’s organizations: Catolicas por el Derecho a Decidir, Amifanic, Asociacion de Mujeres Axayacatl, Movimiento Autonomo de Mujeres, and the first private company Solarco de Nicaragua which made the documentary possible. The documentary creates awareness about the victims of femicide, and calls for a change in the lives of the children left behind in order to break the cycle of violence in our societies.
